City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

Spend, spend, spend
Here is an ad for a credit card and they give away a car every month. How nice.
There are so many competitions to enter to get something for 'free'.
Buy zillion litres of Coke to get mp3, buy 5 packs of coffee to get a holiday ... it's endless and I don't know anybody who got “something for nothing” so as far as I'm concerned it's just a marketing ploy. Spend, spend, spend...

The upper side of Panonica. This photo was taken after 7pm and you can still see people swimming, mostly people come after work to have a swim.
Today is going to be very hot so imagine this lake full of people, mostly children, it's really fun to go there and spend few hours. This lake has salty water =)

Largest coffe pot
This is the largest coffee pot in the world and it's made in Visoko by "Golden Pot" Vispak and they got the recognition from "Guinness World Records" in 2005.
The pot was made for the opening of the old bridge in Mostar, and has travelled all over the country.
In this shot you can't see it properly because in this supermarket they don't allow you to take photos so you can see it better here and some more here.
This coffee pot can take 800 litres of coffee and you can fill it up with 60kg of coffee beans. It's 124cm tall with a base diameter 95cm.
Lets make a party =)
Please stop by for a cup of coffee any time!

Salt wells
After the sunset, old salt wells just above the city.
These salt wells are not in use any more because of the collapsing of the ground underneath the city. There was only one mine in Tuzla where salt was exploited by mining in the period from 1968 to 2000.
Still, they represent what actually Tuzla was and still is, the city of salt.
Salt = Life that's how we say it.

"Why are you not here?"
This is an art installation in the centre of the city which is called "Why are you not here?" to mark 11th year from the massacre in Srebrenica.
These are small coffee cups put on the map of B&H and they are filled with just made coffee but they will remain undrank, it's a symbolic gesture for all those who brutally lost their lives and they will not come around for a coffee. These cups are collected from the families from Srebrenica and from Bosnian families from Burlington area.
In our country we socialize a lot trough coffee, and we say to each other "why you're not coming for a coffee?".
I feel now I should add a few links for those who are interested more in the whole thing. At first I didn't want to bore you but it was important for me to put it for everyone to see it.
Aida Šehović has fist shown this installation in Sarajevo on the 11th of July 2004 and than on the 11th of July 2005 in New York in front of UN on the 10th anniversary and this year in Tuzla. Here you can see the poster of the exibition in Tuzla.
First time she used 1327 cups of coffee, second time 1937 cups of coffee who represented number of unidentified and berried people and in 100 of those cups she put sugar inside for all those who died and didn't have 18 years of age, and this year she included more than 2000 cups of coffee.

Hide and seek
Whenever I want to take a picture of my cousins son, five years old, he wants to play hide and seek!
I was inspired by Edwin S yesterdays entry, just couldn't resist posting it after I saw his lovely cheeky photo of Shawn.

Beer
This morning appeared first big advertisement on the old building of the cinema Centar.
The ad is for Preminger, the bear from Bihac.
On the poster is says "Extra adventure".
Tuzla also has excellent pilsner "Tuzlanski Pilsner" which is very cheep and popular and pretty strong with 6% of alcohol. They are both rated as excellent beers.

Modrac
Here is a view of the Modrac Lake just on the outskirts of Tuzla from the restaurant of a small hotel “Senad of Bosnia”.
Modrac is one of the largest man made lakes in Europe.
Lake Modrac was artificially created 1964., when a dam was built on the river Spreca in the town called Modrac, county of Lukavac with intention to support near by industry with water. The lake is approachable pretty much coming from any direction and accessible along its entire shore. It’s great for fishing and nature around it is very nice and calming.
