City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

Happy New Year

I’d like to thank you all lovely people for visiting TDP in the last year and for all your kind comments.

I’ve learned a lot from you, had fun and enjoyed thoroughly visiting your parts of the World.

I am going to Zürich (Switzerland) tomorrow so I will not be able to visit your CDP’s or leave any comments. I’ll be back at the end of next week.

Have a great New Year’s eve and I wish you all the best in 2007.

Love

At this time of year everybody should be charitable.
Share your happiness with less fortunate, little things make us happy.

Winter

Isn't everything more cheerful with a magical coat of white snow?
It's snowing... ... is it snowing in your part of the world?
Happy first day of winter!

Statue or Kip(ovi)

Franjo Leder is Tuzla's most famous sculptor. He created every major sculpture in Tuzla including famous Statues or Kipovi on one of Tuzla’s bridges (there’re 4 of the statues, one on each side of the bridge). Each statue carries large lump of salt on their shoulders, as one of the symbols of Tuzla.
Sculptures were his gift to the city.

1+3 = the end of the series

OK, enough is enough, I agree, this is the end of the Berlin series, new week, new start.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

These two photos are taken iside the glass dome that was built on top of the old Reichstag by Norman Foster in 1999.

I’m too tired (it's after midnight) to think of anything to write for this photo, I recon it speaks for itself. Simply sunset.

Thank you all for your great response and beautiful messages yesterday, I just got in and will look at your photos tomorrow.

Have a great weekend.

200th post

This is a great Sony Centre where I watched fabulous new James Bond film Casino Royale.
What a great place to mark my 200th post.
I've never though I'd get there, Tuzla is a small city and sometimes one has to be imaginative to get you, lovely people, keep interested so you have a reason to come back to see what's up in Tuzla Mahala (neighbourhood).

Only 17 years ago The Brandenburg Gate was on the eastern side of Berlin divided by infamous Berlin wall.

Honey for my money

I haven’t got a clue what was he saying in German but I think he said: “Free honey for your vote”

If your grandmother asked you what was the name of the hotel you were staying in Berlin what would be your answer?

P.S. TuzlaDP still hijacked by Berlin experience.

This is where I was...

View from the Reichstag or is it Two Towers from the land of Tolkien?

Hope you don’t mind me posting a few photos from my recent trip.

Fire logs

This autumn is very warm and people who have private central heating are not using as much coal and fire logs as expected, lots of money saved there.

Magic camera

With a kind permission to show you this photo I’m introducing a friend of mine who is pushing a button for me while I’m not available.
These kids from Burundi have never seen digital camera and it was a great fun for both sides, she said they were surprised and laughed so much whenever they saw themselves on the small screen, how cool is that.
Maybe someday some of them will have their own CDP.

Have a fun weekend.
