City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

27th January 'European Day against Genocide'
27th January is the day chosen by the Governments of a number of European countries to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, including B&H.
Why 27th January? Because this day is the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau – seen as a powerful symbol of the horrors of the Holocaust.
This monument placed here is a memorial for all genocide victims, called ‘Suza’ which means teardrop by Pero Jelisić. On this very spot was a railway station, where from many Jews, Bosnians, Serbs, Croatians, Gypsies, Partisans were taken to concentration camps into their death.
Hope you have a peaceful weekend.

No time for a winter break
And now… I have to say it’s time to say good by to the Swiss photos to allow TuzlaDP to take back its own space…
The warm weather this winter allows lots of work to be done around the city …
Here you can see the reconstruction of the old Square of the Srebrenica Genocide Victims situated in the city centre.

Once again I wish you all the best in the New 2007 and don’t forget along the way to be happy and have lots of fun.
I will treat you with a few photos from Switzerland, if you don’t mind?! I’m heavily breaking the house rules, but never the less I think you’ll enjoy it.
