City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

27th January 'European Day against Genocide'

27th January is the day chosen by the Governments of a number of European countries to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, including B&H.
Why 27th January? Because this day is the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau – seen as a powerful symbol of the horrors of the Holocaust.
This monument placed here is a memorial for all genocide victims, called ‘Suza’ which means teardrop by Pero Jelisić. On this very spot was a railway station, where from many Jews, Bosnians, Serbs, Croatians, Gypsies, Partisans were taken to concentration camps into their death.

Hope you have a peaceful weekend.

What could be better as a monument of the holocaust than a teardrop.
I could not imagine, what feelings came inside me walking in these rooms and seeing all places in Auschwitz about fifteen years ago.

Having been in Tuzla during Bosnia's second agony, and met partisan veterans who said they had not dreamed it would happen again, I want to greet all friends.
and rejoice that you are keeping alive this memory.
I am sure it is more genuine than the hollow words of our politicians here.
