Lion the keeper
This summer quite a few LOT houses were opened around the country. This one is a newly built and has a lion keeper on its gates, just to ‘keep’ up with the fashion of all the concrete flamingos, ducks, unicorns… that are popular in the area =)
As far as I know this brave lion is a keeper of the Finn soldiers.
Liaison and Observation Teams (LOT) were implemented to promote closer interaction between EUFOR or European Union Force and the local community.

Doesn't look too ferocious! It doesn't look like concrete; is it?
Is it supposed to scare visitors away or attract them I wonder!?
elle est amusante cette sculpture,on dirait une peluche ;o)
it is amusing this sculpture, one would say a cuddly toy ;O)
to be honest...this lion is not too frightening:) Rather cute...but Finn people are also rather cute then frightening:)
the lion looks so gentle.
maybe it is purring like a cat instead of a huge loud roar :p
We saw a lot of these concrete animals (in pairs) all over Ireland.
the design was based on lion king? i bet little children (n adults) are fond of it !
a sweet lion, maybe in other time he looked really brave.
love this cute lion:) i'm a leo, natural to look out for a lion icon and this one is looks soft, gentle and approachable:D
Mr. Lion and the building he guards both look a bit old, yet you mention the LOT house is new. . .maybe just taken over for that use now? Very sweet fellow, and good capture.

like the new profile shot ;0)
If that lion could speak I bet he'd tell us about all his neighbors. And he wouldn't be ly'in.
i love your comments guys, thanks for stopping by.
hehe, who would've thought such an innocent lion can guard anybody ;)
Kim - the house was built at the beginning of this summer (even may/june), i thought i have a picture while it was being built but i can't find it.
