City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

Goat

Goat is the symbol of Tuzla from middle ages.
There's an old saying that the whole Tuzla was feeding from cheese and milk from one goat and it saved the people of Tuzla from starvation, and we have nice saying in rhyme, but when you try to translate it, it doesn't sound even near as the original in Bosnian.

Nice statue of our darling goat we have in front of Hotel Tuzla.

Is there a story behind why the goat is your symbol?

Hi Jazzy! Yup why is your city's symbol a goat? I don't see the connection to salt?

Thanx all for stopping by.
Anne - there isn't any connection between salt and the famous goat, it's just a story that 'one' goat saved Tuzla from starvation.

thats so interesting - europe seems to have a much richer and storied history than what i could ever share - translations are like movie remakes - they are never as good as the original =)
