City on a grain of salt. Tuzla means a place of salt and it lays on top of the salt lake. It is suspected it has been there for around 7000 years as one of the oldest places in Europe.

Winter flowers

Isn't it odd to find this kind of flower in the middle of the winter in the woods? Does anybody know what possibly could it be? The branches are coming out of the ground trough the leaves. I have seen it in a few places and it really puzzles me.
Hope you all have nice Friday!

It looks like Cydonia japonica, the flowering quince. It's a garden shrub, maybe birds have been responsible for spreading the seeds into the woods.

Not familiar with the flower but agree that it is unusual to find such a brilliant hue in the winter. Enjoy your week-end.

Nice photograph! Owen is right, it is a Cydonia japonica and they are commonly found in late winter or early spring. Hope that helps!!
